Before you start the process of immigrating to Canada as student, you must be accepted by a recognized school, university or college in Canada. That means you have to apply to the school or university for a course or program. Once you have been accepted to study in Canada and you have the official paper of acceptance delivered by the school or the academic institution fro Canada, you can then apply for a study permit or a temporary resident visa.
In the process of obtaining your student permit, you must prove that you have enough money to pay for your tuition fees, your living expenses, and you return transportation.

A criminal record check must be conducted in most cases to make sure that you are not a risk to the security of Canada. You may be asked to provide a police certificate.
